Beth Goldman Taravella Hurricane Region
Coaches Nominated by Regions Panhandle: Shawn Briscoe, Ft. Walton Beach
COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD General/Criteria: Each region will select one of its official representatives as a Regional Coach of the Year. The FFL will also recognize one of the regional winners as the FFL State Coach of the Year. Criterion for the selection of these individuals shall include, but not be limited to, dedication to students, enthusiasm for the activity, professionalism, length of service, leadership, innovation, and success in competitions. Regional Coach of the Year: Each school shall submit one nomination with its Regional Tournament registration form. Schools not entering the Regional Tournament are not eligible to make a nomination. Schools that are affiliated (a high school that also has a middle school or 9th grade center membership) get only one nomination. A school may not nominate one of its own official coaches. Any coach receiving two or more nominations will be placed on the region’s ballot. Voting will occur at the Regional Tournament, with the Regional Director appointing a committee of non-nominated coaches to count the ballots. Each member school will get one (1) vote. A coach receiving a plurality of the votes will be declared the Regional Coach of the Year. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony and the Regional Director will forward the winner’s name to the League President. If a region fails to submit a nominee, or if there is a tie in voting, the FFL Executive Board shall select a winner from the region. State Coach of the Year: Each regional winner will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire. The Executive Board will review the questionnaires and select the State Coach of the Year. In the event that a member of the Executive Board was selected as a regional winner, he/she shall not participate in the deliberations. The State Coach of the Year will be announced at the Varsity State awards ceremony; that person shall be ineligible for regional and/or state recognition for the five (5) school years following his/her selection. |
