FFL TO HIRE POLICY JUDGES

FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Who, What, When, & Where:

The Florida Forensic League will hold its State Championship tournament on March 3 & 4, 2006 at Western HS in Davie (Broward County).  A total of thirty-six teams qualify to this tournament from the six regions that comprise the league.  Competing schools will provide judges at a rate of one per two teams or fraction thereof.  The league seeks to hire 6 qualified Policy Debate judges to supplement our judge pool for this tournament.

Our Offer

1)  We will pay an honorarium of $125 to each hired Policy Debate judge.  Payment will be by check and made at the end of the tournament.  Because teams are entitled to strike judges, and because FFL uses mutual preference judging, it is highly unlikely that a judge would be assigned to more than 6 rounds.  Maximum possible use would be 8 rounds.

2)  The league will provide your dinner on Friday night and lunch on Saturday.  The host school will provide breakfast on Saturday morning and all the snacks you can eat throughout the tournament!

3)  We will provide double-occupancy lodging on Friday evening at an area hotel if you need a place to stay.

Requirements:

1)  Be available for rounds at Western HS beginning at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 3.  Be available for rounds on Saturday beginning at 7:30 am and concluding at approximately 8:00 pm.

2)  Certify that you have judged twelve (12) or more rounds on the current high school topic.

3)  Provide a judging paradigm in advance of the tournament using a form that will be available online.

***INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD CONTACT FFL TREASURER RENAE MIDENCE (brmidence@gmail.com) TO CONFIRM YOUR INTEREST NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 10, 2006.  PLEASE PROVIDE MRS. MIDENCE WITH A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF YOUR EXPERIENCE.  WE WILL EXTEND OFFERS TO BE A HIRED JUDGE BY FEBRUARY 15, 2006.
