A MESSAGE FROM FFL PRESIDENT CAROL CECIL:
Dear Coaches-
Please email me with any items you wish the FFL to consider for our Summer Meeting by clicking on this link. The Summer Meeting is in lieu of the Spring Meeting that normally transpires after Registration on Friday morning. Details for the Summer Meeting will be provided, but nothing has been finalized as of yet. We will plan the Summer Meeting around the various debate camps.
We will also have an individual set-up with a computer at Registration so that you may add items to the agenda at that point in time as well.
Something new for Novice State! Twitter. Paul Gaba set-up a Twitter account for FFL last year. We will be using Twitter at Novice State this year. Randall Martinez has agreed to be our official "Twitterer" and will be helping coaches who do not already have accounts create them so that coaches / students alike can be kept abreast of everything happening at the Novice State Tournament this year.
Detailed below are some reasons (provided by Randall) why Twitter @Novice State should work:
1. It let students know when postings for rounds were up.
2. It criticized and created incentives for student judges to write better ballots.
3. If there was one ballot holding up the tournament, there was a tweet sent out to locate the person and they were found literally within minutes.
4. It let everyone know of any schedule changes.
5. It let folks know when food was ready, not creating a cluster in the cafeteria of hungry and nagging students.
6. If there was a judge change and the name wasn't recorded, the replacement judge was located via tweet.
7. If a school had to be contacted to settle any issues, they were publicly held accountable. (This could replace the Whiteboard method)
8. If any judges did not pick up a ballot, there was a tweet sent out to locate them (very effective!).
Coaches can click the FFL Twitter link on the left-side menu or on the main page to join the FFL Twitter account. There is also instructions on the left-side menu link on how to create a Twitter account.
